Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has been elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after securing a decisive victory in the party’s regional executive elections.
COKA polled 663 votes to defeat his main challenger, former Bantama Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who garnered 269 votes, according to Electoral commissions (EC) results.
The 394-vote margin placed COKA firmly ahead in a closely watched contest that attracted significant attention from party supporters and delegates across the region.
His victory was met with loud celebrations at the election centre, where supporters broke into drumming, singing and party chants. Some delegates waved NPP flags and lifted the Chairman-elect onto their shoulders as they celebrated the outcome.
COKA is expected to take charge of the party’s organisational and mobilisation activities in the Ashanti Region, with a key focus on strengthening grassroots structures and improving the party’s preparedness for the 2028 general elections.
The election forms part of the NPP’s nationwide process to elect new regional executives who will oversee the party’s operations, mobilisation and organisational activities ahead of the next general election.
Meanwhile, Dr. Keskine Owusu Poku was elected Regional Communications Officer after polling 588 votes, defeating Ishak Kyei Brobey, who secured 335 votes.
In the Regional Women’s Organiser contest, Beatrice Owusu emerged victorious with 481 votes. She defeated Victoria Nyarko Achiaw, who polled 377 votes, and Ophelia Samaaba, who obtained 59 votes.

- Regional Youth Organiser: Martin Ameyaw
- Regional Communication Officer: Keskine Owusu Poku
- Regional Treasurer: Helena Mensah
- Nasara Coordinator: Razak
The newly elected regional executives are expected to assume responsibility for strengthening the party’s structures, deepening grassroots engagement and enhancing the NPP’s organisational readiness as it prepares for the 2028 elections.
