The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has expressed full support for the government’s Operation Recovery of Assets and Lands (ORAL) initiative, urging a comprehensive effort to reclaim all looted state properties dating back to 1966.
In a statement signed by National Communications Director Osei Kofi Acquah, the CPP condemned the historical sale of state assets to politicians, civil servants, and their associates, describing it as a betrayal of public trust.
“It is unacceptable that individuals entrusted to protect state properties ended up selling them to themselves or their cronies,” the statement read.
The party emphasized the need to recover all state-owned assets, including lands, vehicles, factories, and institutions, and called for punitive measures against those involved in illegal transactions. It also urged the government to extend ORAL beyond Accra to ensure nationwide accountability.
The CPP further called for the recovery of assets to date back to the 1966 coup, which it blamed for fostering impunity and enabling public officials to acquire state properties at undervalued prices.
“The recovery effort must leave no stone unturned. These properties belong to the people of Ghana and must be reclaimed without excuses,” the statement concluded.
