The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is on track to secure a majority in Ghana’s next parliament, according to a report by research firm Global InfoAnalytics ahead of the December 7 general elections.
The analysis projects the NDC will win 150 parliamentary seats, while the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to claim 99 seats.
One seat is predicted to go to an independent candidate, with 29 constituencies classified as too close to call, signalling intense competition in those areas.
In the presidential race, the report forecasts victory for the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, with 52.2% of the vote. This places him ahead of the NPP’s candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is projected to garner 41.4% of the popular vote.
Global InfoAnalytics highlights that these predictions reflect shifting political dynamics and heightened competition in both parliamentary and presidential contests as the election approaches.
