The Ghana Scholarships Authority has hosted the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and effective management of scholarship programmes in the country.
The Registrar of the Ghana Scholarships Authority, Alexander Kwaku Asafo Agyei, disclosed the engagement in a Facebook post, describing the visit by the Committee as an opportunity to share the Authority’s ongoing reforms and initiatives aimed at transforming scholarship administration in Ghana.
According to him, the meeting provided a platform to highlight the work being done to improve the delivery of scholarships and support Ghana’s human capital development agenda.
“We used this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to transparency, accountability, and the delivery of opportunities that serve Ghana’s human capital development agenda,” Mr Asafo Agyei stated.
He welcomed the Committee’s interest in the mandate of the Authority, stressing that accountability remains central to its operations.
“Transparency and accountability are not just words we use but at the core foundation of everything we are building here at the Ghana Scholarships Authority,” he said.
The Registrar added that the Authority is prepared to engage with Parliament and other stakeholders to ensure the scholarship system delivers fair opportunities to deserving students.
“When Parliament shows up to ask the hard questions, we show up with the honest answers,” he noted.
Mr Asafo Agyei said the collaboration between the Authority and Parliament is important in building a scholarship system that supports students and contributes to national development.
He expressed confidence that ongoing efforts will help create a Ghana where every deserving student has access to educational opportunities.
