The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has underscored the significance of collaboration between Ghana and Turkey in key areas such as counter-terrorism, cyber security, and capacity building for security Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Hüseyin Güngör, at his office in Accra on Tuesday, March 4th 2025.
He made these remarks during a courtesy visit by the Turkish.
During the meeting, Minister Mohammed-Mubarak expressed Ghana’s gratitude for Turkey’s continued support across various sectors, particularly in security and economic development. He also highlighted the Prison Agriculture Project, an initiative designed to address food shortages within Ghana’s correctional facilities.
A statement issued after the meeting noted that Ambassador Güngör reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Ghana and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The discussions set the stage for future collaborations, with a particular focus on sustainable agricultural practices to address food security challenges in Ghana’s prisons.
Following the meeting, the Minister took to Facebook to share insights from the engagement. “Today, I had the distinct honour of receiving His Excellency Hüseyin Güngör, the Ambassador of Turkey to Ghana, at my office,” he wrote.
He described the meeting as a valuable opportunity to discuss the broad spectrum of Ghana-Turkey relations, emphasizing Turkey’s contributions to Ghana’s security and economic growth.
“Such collaborations are crucial in enhancing national stability and fostering sustainable development within our communities. I also took the opportunity to express Ghana’s deep appreciation for Turkey’s assistance across various sectors,” he added.
The Minister further acknowledged Turkey’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, noting that its initiatives extend beyond economic partnerships to security cooperation, which plays a vital role in addressing regional challenges and creating a safer environment for development.
