The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, today presented 60 pickup vehicles and 20 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service to bolster their capacity in supporting the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
Speaking during the presentation, Alhaji Muntaka announced the establishment of a new specialized unit within the Police Service dedicated to ensuring continuous security for workers and businesses operating under the 24-hour economic framework.
He emphasized that the vehicles—assembled locally by Zonda Tec—demonstrate the government’s commitment to strengthening local manufacturing and enhancing the logistical capabilities of the nation’s security forces.
“As we advance our 24-hour economy strategy, security remains paramount. These resources are a step towards safeguarding businesses and workers who operate round-the-clock,” the Minister said.
During a tour of Zonda Tec’s vehicle assembly plant, Alhaji Muntaka revealed ongoing efforts by the Ministry to digitize the issuance of work permits and quotas.
He noted that the initiative is designed to simplify regulatory processes and improve the ease of doing business in Ghana.
The Minister also urged businesses to expand their operations responsibly, reiterating the government’s pledge to uphold law and order across the country.
CEO of Zonda Tec, Madam Yang Yang, expressed her company’s pride in contributing to national development through local vehicle assembly.
She highlighted the strategic importance of supporting national institutions like the Ghana Police Service with reliable, home-assembled transport solutions.
“This partnership reflects the potential of local industry to meet national needs and strengthen critical sectors such as security,” Madam Yang stated.
The initiative is part of broader government efforts to provide a secure environment that encourages business growth and sustainable economic development.
