The Government of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has officially announced the dissolution and reconstitution of statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils.
This bold step marks a new chapter in the country’s governance, as the administration sets its sights on revitalizing key institutions and driving progress.
The Presidential Transition Act, 2012 (Act 845) has paved the way for this transformation, mandating the cessation of board membership upon a presidential transition. As of January 7, 2025, all members of statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the former President or a former Minister of State have ceased to hold office.
This development presents a unique opportunity for the new administration to reconstitute the affected boards, commissions, councils, and statutory corporations in accordance with their respective enabling laws.
The President has expressed his gratitude to all affected members for their service and wishes them well in their future endeavors.
To ensure a smooth transition, the managements of these bodies are directed to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before taking any major decisions. This move will prevent last-minute liabilities and contracts that could tie the hands of the new government.
