Residents and road users along the Lawra–Pavuu–Gbelinkaa–Babile corridor are expected to benefit from improved access and shorter travel times as work progresses on the reshaping of the road under the Lawra Municipal Assembly’s road improvement programme.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lawra, Cecilia Soyelleh Nuratu, gave the assurance after inspecting the ongoing project alongside the Municipal Coordinating Director, the Municipal Roads Engineer and the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) Coordinator.
The team assessed the progress and quality of work and engaged technical officers and equipment operators to ensure the project is being executed according to the required specifications and within schedule.
Expressing satisfaction with the pace of work, Madam Cecilia commended the technical team for its commitment to improving the municipality’s road infrastructure.
“This project will improve access to communities along the corridor, ease the movement of farmers, traders and commuters, and support the socio-economic development of the municipality,” he said.
The MCE also acknowledged the contribution of the Member of Parliament for the Lawra Constituency, Bede Ziedeng, who is providing fuel to power equipment being used for the reshaping works.
She described the MP’s support as a strong demonstration of collaboration in improving the municipality’s road network and delivering better transport infrastructure for residents.
The Lawra Municipal Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitoring all ongoing infrastructure projects to ensure quality workmanship, accountability and timely completion.
When completed, the Lawra–Pavuu–Gbelinkaa–Babile road is expected to significantly improve connectivity, reduce travel time and stimulate economic activities in the beneficiary communities.
