Nana Owiredu Wadie (I), Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia, through the Kabaka Foundation Ghana, has made a significant donation to the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) in Somanya, Eastern Region.

The donation includes ten HP i5 desktop computers with accessories and ten Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) batteries.

This support addresses the University’s urgent need for computers in its offices, where staff previously relied on personal laptops for official work, raising concerns about data security.

The donation was received by UESD’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eric Nyarko Sampson, along with Registrar Mrs. Mary Abena Agyepong and other senior staff members.

Henry Larbi, Executive Director of Kabaka Foundation, stated that this contribution aligns with the Foundation’s commitment to achieving UN SDG Goal 4 (Quality Education) and supporting various other SDG goals.

Henry Larbi noted that education is a top priority for Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) due to its potential to drive significant change and create opportunities.

Prof. Nyarko Sampson commended the Kabaka Foundation for their swift response, highlighting the University’s financial and logistical challenges as a young institution.

He explained that many offices have lacked computers for the past four years, leading lecturers to use personal laptops for university work.

UESD has reached out to over 50 private institutions for support, with Kabaka Foundation being the first to respond positively.

The University with population of 944 students ,has introduced several interventions which include community-based experiential learning, that engages students in profiling of community needs to find solutions to them.

Prof. Nyarko Sampson invited further collaboration with organizations specializing in environmental, sanitation, and water resource management, as the University continues to advance its mission and community development efforts.
