The North East Regional Minister, Hon. Ibrahim Tia, has called for deeper collaboration between the Church and the State to accelerate development in the North East Region.

The Minister’s call followed high-level discussions with the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yennusom Wengam.

The meeting, held at the Church’s national headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, focused on aligning faith-based leadership with government’s development agenda to drive social and economic progress.

Hon. Tia said the engagement formed part of broader efforts to rally key stakeholders behind the region’s transformation drive.

“Our discussions focused on the development agenda of the North East Region and the importance of deepening collaboration between the Church and the State to advance societal progress,” he stated.

He praised Rev. Wengam as “an illustrious son of our region whose pedigree, leadership and accomplishments continue to bring honour and pride to our people,” adding that the General Superintendent’s “visionary stewardship and remarkable impact on the Church and society at large are truly commendable.”

Touching on economic prospects, Hon. Tia underscored the vast agricultural potential of the North East Region and renewed his appeal for partnerships.

“The North East Region has enormous opportunities, particularly in agriculture. I reiterate my call on key stakeholders — religious bodies, investors, development partners and our own citizens — to partner with us in unlocking these opportunities for the benefit of individuals, institutions and the nation as a whole,” he said.

He assured that government remains committed to implementing strategic projects aimed at accelerating development and improving livelihoods across the region.

Rev. Wengam, on his part, commended the strides being made to strengthen peace, social cohesion and development in the region.

He encouraged government, religious organisations, investors and indigenous citizens to work collectively towards maximizing the region’s significant economic potential.

The meeting concluded with Rev. Wengam presenting souvenir gifts to Hon. Tia and offering prayers for wisdom, strength and continued progress for the North East Region.

Both leaders expressed confidence that sustained unity of purpose and strategic collaboration would help unlock the full promise of the region.
