The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a significant step towards reclaiming the Fomena seat in the Ashanti Region, with the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) endorsing Andrew Amoako Asiamah as their 2024 parliamentary candidate.
This is in fulfillment of a condition the break away MP gave the party after breaking away from the party prior to elections 2024 when he was allegedly denied access to nomination forms by the former constituency chairman Kwasi Nti noted for changing MP’s every four years through diobolic tactics.
Before, he agree to do business with the NPP in parliament he first demanded the resignation of the constituency chairman which was oblige by the party compelling the experince Akwasi Nti to resign in the interest of the party.
The second deputy of Parliament further demand he should be allow to contest the Parliamentary election on the ticket of the party unopposed.
He aagain requested he should be given opportunity to complied his own album which will be used for polling station and constituency election which the party couldn’t object to.
After meeting the demand, Ashanti regional Chairman of the party Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as chairman Wontumi made announcement on Thursday, during a meeting with the Constituency’s leadership where the endorsement and the party decision was made.
Chairman Wontumi expressed the party’s gratitude to Asiamah for his support and dedication, which he said had saved the party’s image in Parliament.
Asiamah, who is currently serving as the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and the independent member of parliament for Fomena, has been a key figure in the party’s efforts to regain the seat.
His decision to run on the NPP ticket has been seen as a major boost to the party’s chances of winning the seat.
