The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced the immediate closure of payments for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, citing the need to prevent over-subscription and ensure an orderly and well-coordinated pilgrimage process.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, PAOG said the decision is aimed at effectively managing pilgrim numbers and aligning confirmed participants with Ghana’s approved Hajj quota for the year.
According to the office, over-subscription has historically led to administrative backlogs and operational challenges during Hajj operations. Closing payments at this stage, it noted, will help avoid such difficulties and support the delivery of a safe, efficient and successful pilgrimage.
PAOG emphasized that the move was taken in the best interest of prospective pilgrims and the nation, adding that it will ensure all pilgrims who have completed payment arrangements are successfully airlifted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The office advised members of the public, particularly intending pilgrims who were unable to complete their payments before the closure, to prepare for subsequent Hajj arrangements.
PAOG also cautioned the public to be wary of individuals claiming they can still offer opportunities to participate in the 2026 pilgrimage, warning that such claims may be fraudulent.
