The Wa Municipal Hospital has received medical equipment worth more than GH¢100,000 from Petrosol Platinum Energy PLC to support healthcare delivery in the Upper West Region.
The donation, made on Monday, September 28, follows an appeal by the hospital for support to replace obsolete equipment and address pressing infrastructure and logistical challenges affecting its operations.
The items include oxygen concentrators and cylinders, vital signs monitors, microscopes, hospital beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, weighing scales, blood pressure apparatus, pulse oximeters, thermometers, IV stands, water distillers and crutches, among other equipment.
The donation formed the second phase of Petrosol’s intervention at the hospital after more than 100 company staff, health workers and community volunteers participated in a clean-up exercise at the facility.
The exercise involved clearing overgrown vegetation and desilting choked drains around parts of the hospital. Hospital authorities had previously raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of the facility and ageing equipment.

Speaking during the presentation, Petrosol Head of Marketing, Philip Assampong, said the intervention was aimed at supporting communities where the company operates.
He said residents who patronise Petrosol products also depend on the Wa Municipal Hospital for healthcare, making it important for the company to contribute to improving services at the facility.
Mr Assampong urged the public to continue patronising Petrosol products to enable the company to undertake more community-focused interventions.
The Chairman of the Association of Dealers of Petrosol Platinum Energy PLC, Alhaji Nurideen, urged hospital authorities to properly maintain the equipment to ensure that they serve patients for a long time.
Receiving the donation, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Bukari Zakari, expressed appreciation to Petrosol and assured the company that the equipment would be put to good use.
He renewed the hospital’s appeal to other corporate organisations, development partners and individuals to support efforts to rehabilitate the ageing facility and replace obsolete equipment.
Petrosol expands regional CSR drive
The Wa intervention is part of a wider round of community support activities undertaken by Petrosol in the northern part of the country in recent days.

In the Savannah Region, the company on September 29 donated 600 school bags and 3,000 exercise books to the Sawla D/A Primary School in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.
The 3,600 items are intended to support teaching and learning at the school.
Petrosol says its CSR programme focuses on healthcare, education, public safety, emergency response and community development, with the company describing its approach as investment in the communities around its operations.
The company has also previously supported healthcare initiatives through donations to the GRAFT Foundation for reconstructive surgeries and has reported support to communities affected by disasters in the Upper West and Upper East regions.
