President John Dramani Mahama has directed all relevant investigative agencies to launch an immediate and thorough investigation into allegations made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a Member of Parliament, regarding two suspicious flights that recently arrived at Kotoka International Airport.
The flights are suspected of being involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.
The President, in response to the allegations raised at a press conference by Rev. Ntim Fordjour, emphasized the government’s commitment to upholding security and ensuring that Ghana does not serve as a transit or final destination for drug-related activities.
“I have directed all relevant investigative agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator, to immediately and fully collaborate with the honourable Member of Parliament,” President Mahama stated.
The President assured the public that the investigative bodies have been tasked with gathering all necessary information from Rev. Ntim Fordjour to ensure a transparent and credible probe into the matter.
He further reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking and vowed that all necessary actions would be taken to expose and dismantle any illicit drug networks operating within the country.
This directive comes on the heels of a recent high-profile drug bust by the NIB, which seized narcotics with a street value of $350 million.
The operation underscored Ghana’s commitment to combating the illegal drug trade and preventing the country from becoming a hub for transnational criminal activities.
Authorities have assured the public of regular updates as investigations progress, reinforcing Ghana’s determination to maintain stringent security measures against organized crime.
