President John Dramani Mahama will undertake a three-day State Visit to the Republic of Zambia from February 4 to 6, 2026, at the invitation of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema.
The visit is aimed at deepening bilateral relations between Ghana and Zambia, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening diplomatic ties, expanding trade and investment cooperation, and exploring opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
President Mahama will be accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama.
A major highlight of the visit will be an address by President Mahama to the National Assembly of Zambia, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa. He will also meet members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka to engage with Ghanaians living and working in Zambia.
As part of the visit, Presidents Mahama and Hichilema will co-chair a Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue, designed to promote economic cooperation between the two countries.
The forum will provide an opportunity for Ghana to showcase its digital technologies and fintech services to Zambian businesses and public institutions, with the aim of fostering partnerships and knowledge exchange.
The State Visit underscores President Mahama’s commitment to regional integration, improved transport connectivity, expanded trade, and the free movement of people and goods across the continent.
He remains a strong advocate for the accelerated implementation of the AfCFTA, which he considers vital for economic transformation, job creation for Africa’s youth, and enhancing the continent’s global competitiveness.
Ahead of the Zambia visit, President Mahama will travel to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, February 1, 2026, to participate in the World Governments Summit 2026, scheduled for February 2 to 4, at the invitation of the Ruler of the UAE.
According to a statement signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President will be conveyed to Dubai on a special aircraft provided by the Ruler of the UAE, which will also transport him and his delegation onward to Zambia.
