He warned that financial malfeasance and the diversion of public funds erode trust, deepen inequality, and hinder national development.
“This initiative represents our unwavering commitment to the fight against corruption, financial malfeasance, and the misappropriation of public resources,” he declared. “Every pesewa recovered will be channeled back into national development, and mechanisms will be strengthened to prevent future losses.”
Findings Reveal Widespread Financial Leakages
The ORAL report, compiled by a dedicated team of investigators, legal experts, and public servants, has uncovered large-scale financial mismanagement and asset misappropriation. The President commended the team for their meticulous work, which he said had exposed leakages that have cost the nation dearly—funds that should have been invested in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social development.
While the report made for “sober reading,” President Mahama expressed optimism that through collective efforts, Ghana can recover lost assets and deter future acts of economic sabotage.

As part of his commitment to ensuring accountability, the President announced that the report has been handed over to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, with firm instructions to commence immediate investigations and prosecute anyone found culpable.
“To those who think they can defraud the state and escape justice, let this serve as a strong warning: Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption,” he warned. “Our government will ensure that integrity, accountability, and the rule of law are upheld.”
