The Presidency has reminded Ministers, Chief Executives, Board members and other political appointees of President’s firm resolve to maintain discipline, accountability and effective leadership across government.
In a notice signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., the Presidency said recent ministerial changes, the dissolution of selected boards and the expected reshuffle of Chief Executives formed part of efforts to strengthen institutional leadership and improve coordination within government.
According to the notice, the changes are also intended to ensure that all political appointees remain aligned with the government’s policies and priorities.
“The President expects all Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Chief Executives, Board members and other political appointees to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, diligence, humility and respect for established administrative procedures,” the statement said.
It warned that conduct that undermines governmental cohesion, institutional authority or the effective implementation of government policy would not be tolerated.
The Presidency further reminded political appointees that public office is a privilege and an opportunity to serve the Ghanaian people.
It said performance across all sectors would continue to be assessed, adding that the President would take any further action considered necessary to safeguard the integrity, effectiveness and responsiveness of his administration.
“All appointees are expected to cooperate and commit as we work together to deliver the Government’s mandate and improve the lives of the Ghanaian people,” the notice concluded.
