A high-level parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Korea has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Ghana while exploring investment opportunities in the country’s infrastructure sector.
The delegation, led by the First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Park Duk Hyum, paid a courtesy call on the Parliament of Ghana, where they were received by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor.
The Korean delegation comprised Members of the National Assembly and representatives from ten Korean infrastructure companies seeking to explore potential investment opportunities in Ghana.
During the meeting, H.E. Park encouraged increased Korean investment in Ghana, particularly in infrastructure development, describing the visit as an opportunity to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.
Hon. Ahiafor welcomed the delegation and underscored the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Ghana and South Korea, which dates back to 1977. He expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen parliamentary collaboration and expand economic and investment partnerships.
Also addressing the delegation, the Chief Partnership Officer of the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Secretariat, Dr. Ishmael Nii Amanor Dodoo, outlined Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy initiative, describing it as a key strategy to accelerate industrialisation, increase exports, and create sustainable employment.
Dr. Dodoo invited Korean businesses to take advantage of the investment opportunities available under the initiative, noting that the policy is designed to attract strategic partnerships and position Ghana as a competitive destination for manufacturing and export-led growth.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by both Ghana and South Korea to deepen economic cooperation, promote private sector investment, and expand mutually beneficial partnerships across key sectors of the economy.
