Strong Northern Ghana-Asanteman alliance will secure NPP’s victory in 2024 – Jinapor

Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency in the Northern Region, has expressed confidence that the strong political alliance between Northern Ghana and the Ashanti Region will help the New Patriotic Party (NPP) break the eight-year political cycle in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Speaking at the Bantama Constituency NPP Campaign launch in Kumasi after the Bantama Big Walk 2024 event, Jinapor praised the massive turnout, describing it as a clear indication that the NPP is on the path to victory on December 7.

He attributed this momentum to the leadership of Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister of Roads and Highways, whom he called “the hardworking road builder.”

“The strong alliance between Northern Ghana and Asanteman is going to break the 8 for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on December 7th, with the help of God,” Jinapor declared confidently, adding that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s candidacy is a key factor in the party’s expected success.

Jinapor also stressed that the upcoming election will be about comparing the records of the NPP and the NDC. He pointed out that both running mates in the election—Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) for the NPP and Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for the NDC—have served as Ministers of Education. However, he argued that NAPO’s achievements, particularly in implementing Free Senior High School (Free SHS), far outweigh the NDC’s track record.

“When we compare the two running mates, it’s like day and night,” Jinapor said. “NAPO brought Free SHS and successfully implemented it, while Prof. Jane Naana, during her time as Minister, failed to provide even basic teaching supplies, such as chalk, for schools.”

Jinapor also highlighted the achievements of the NPP government in the energy sector, crediting Dr. Opoku Prempeh for stabilizing Ghana’s electricity supply during his tenure as Minister of Energy. He praised NAPO’s initiatives, describing him as a “game changer” who has addressed the country’s power challenges.

The Damongo MP further urged constituents of Bantama to rally behind Asenso-Boakye in the upcoming parliamentary election, calling on them to deliver a resounding victory for the Minister of Roads and Highways.

“You’ve all seen his hard work and dedication since he became Minister. He is diligently bringing development to communities across the country,” Jinapor said. “With God on our side, come December 7th, 2024, we will celebrate the victory of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the sixth President of the Fourth Republic.”

Samuel Jinapor’s speech at the campaign launch emphasized the NPP’s confidence in building on the alliance between the Northern and Ashanti Regions, as the party gears up to secure another term in office.
