The Mampong Magistrate Court has sentenced 23-year-old Sumaila Abdul Rahman to 12 months in prison for stealing water meters.
His arrest occurred on October 11, 2024, and he was quickly arraigned on October 14, where Chief Inspector Richard Obeng Asare presented the prosecution case.
Additionally, Priscilla Amofa is in custody at the Kumasi Central Police Station for illegally reconnecting water services, while her accomplice, Nana Adu, remains at large. These incidents have raised alarms about the integrity of water supply systems in the Ashanti Region.
Management in the Ashanti Region are urging residents to report suspicious activities related to water theft as part of ongoing efforts to maintain essential services.
