Over 50 Youth Employment Agency (YEA) beneficiaries in the Obuasi East Municipality have received vital equipment to kick-start their entrepreneurial journey.
Madam Faustina Amissah, the Obuasi East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), handed over drilling machines, hair dryers, auto works kits, safety equipment and makeup kits to empower the upcoming entrepreneurs.
The donation follows the completion of a six-month skill training programme in plumbing, vehicle servicing, beauty care, hair dressing and wood works for the beneficiaries. The MCE commended the beneficiaries for taking up the challenge to acquire skills in various fields.
She said the intervention sought to empower the young entrepreneurs to set up their own businesses and contribute to the local economy.
She implored the beneficiaries and their families to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure the sustainability of the programme.
Mr. Mike Afoakwa, the Municipal Director of YEA, said the beneficiaries would also receive TVET and NVTI certificates.
He encouraged young people interested in learning a skill to apply when the portal opens, saying that the programme offered equal opportunities for all.
Ms. Priscilla Opoku, a beneficiary of the programme, expressed her profound gratitude to the YEA for the life-changing opportunity.
“I was jobless before but through the help of YEA skills training programme and these start-up kits which are the basic needs for my personal establishment I can say good bye to unemployment,” she noted.
