In a move aimed at ensuring a seamless transition of power and addressing the nation’s security challenges, President-elect John Dramani Mahama has appointed a six-member team to oversee and coordinate national security issues until substantive appointments are made.
The team, set to begin its mandate on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, will be led by former Interior Minister, Prosper Douglas Bani at the helm. Bani’s expertise in national security and governance is expected to provide strategic leadership to the team.
Other members of the team include:
- Lt. General Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd), former Chief of Defence Staff, who brings decades of military experience to the table.
- Kofi Totobi Quakyi, former Minister for National Security, whose insight into national security policy will be invaluable.
- Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Esq, former National Security Coordinator, who has a proven track record in coordinating national security efforts.
- Brigadier General Fuseini Iddrisu (Rtd), a seasoned military officer with extensive experience in security operations.
- COP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye (Rtd), a respected former police officer, who will bring a wealth of knowledge on law enforcement and public safety.
This announcement comes as Mahama prepares to take office, following his election victory.
