Old Tafo Church of Christ Youth Ministry to host 5-day youth week lectureship on contemporary Christian issues

The Youth Ministry of the Old Tafo Church of Christ is set to host a dynamic five-day Youth Week Lectureship from May 7th to May 11th, 2025.

The event will bring together youth from Churches of Christ across Ghana to engage in meaningful discussions on pressing and sometimes controversial topics facing modern-day Christians.

Theme: “Enriching the Bond Between Members”

Themed “Enriching the Bond Between Members,” the conference aims to strengthen unity and foster deeper connections among church members nationwide.

The program features a series of lectures, worship sessions, and a special excursion, all designed to educate, inspire, and promote fellowship.

Schedule of Events
1st Lectureship: Interrogation Before Baptism

Date: Wednesday, May 7, 2025

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Topic: Does a person need to be interrogated before baptism?

Speaker: Preacher Henry Osei Owusu (Old Tafo Church of Christ)

Officiator (Songs Leader): Member from Accra-Road Church of Christ

Opening Prayer: Brother Stephen Atta Poku (Old Tafo Church of Christ)

Closing Prayer: Brother Benjamin Mensah (Old Tafo Church of Christ)

This opening session will explore the biblical and practical considerations surrounding baptism and the role of interrogation or questioning before one is baptized.

2nd Lectureship: Normalization of Sins

Date: Thursday, May 8, 2025

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Topic: Normalization of sins: A discussion on betting, dating, fraud, masturbation, and more

Speaker: Preacher Alex Akosa Karikari (Accra-Road Church of Christ)

Officiator (Songs Leader): Brother from Bamtama Church of Christ

Opening Prayer: Brother from Pankrono Church of Christ
Closing Prayer: Brother Francis Appiah (Old Tafo Church of Christ)

This session will tackle sensitive issues that challenge Christian ethics today, encouraging honest dialogue and scriptural guidance.

Songs of Faith 2.0: Hymns and Prayers Marathon
Date: Friday, May 9, 2025
Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Officiators: Host Brother Lawrence Atta Poku (Old Tafo Church of Christ) and four song leaders leading four sessions

Opening Prayer: Brother from Ashtown Church of Christ

Closing Prayer: Brother Williams Boadi (Old Tafo Church of Christ)

A night dedicated to worship through hymns, choruses, and prayers, with participation from brethren across various congregations, fostering spiritual unity.

Excursion to Bomfobiri Waterfalls and Wildlife Sanctuary

Date: Saturday, May 10, 2025
Time: Departure at 9:00 AM, Return at 4:00 PM
Participants: 70 youth members

An opportunity for fellowship beyond the church walls, this excursion to the scenic Bomfobiri Waterfalls and Wildlife Sanctuary in Kumawu offers a refreshing retreat and bonding experience for attendees.

3rd Lectureship (Climax): The Church in Retrospective

Date: Sunday, May 11, 2025

Time: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Topic: The church in its retrospective: Origins, causes of division, and restoring unity among Churches of Christ in Ghana and worldwide

Speaker: Preacher Ken Gyan Kesse

The concluding session will reflect on the historical foundations of the Church of Christ, analyze factors that have led to divisions, and propose actionable ways to restore and enrich bonds among congregations both locally and globally.
