Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has assured investors in Singapore of the government’s commitment to economic transformation under President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership.

He said President Mahama is negotiating for Ghanaians to take ownership of their natural resources as part of his reset agenda. Ablakwa also announced that Ghana and Singapore will soon sign their first Business Investment Treaty to deepen trade and investment ties between the two countries. In addition, Ghana will open its diplomatic mission in Singapore by next year to further strengthen bilateral relations.

The minister emphasized that President Mahama does not believe in aid and handouts but rather in trade and mutually beneficial partnerships. His remarks come on the sidelines of President Mahama’s historic state visit to Singapore, where he became the first Ghanaian leader to be officially hosted by Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam

During the visit, President Mahama secured investment deals worth US$1 billion and witnessed the signing of key agreements in areas including housing, education, and infrastructure. The trip also marked the beginning of deeper political and economic cooperation between Ghana and Singapore as both nations seek to build stronger links across Africa and Asia.
