The New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Leadership has asked the public and party stakeholders to disregard recent statements made by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, saying their remarks do not reflect the party’s values or practices.

In a statement, the party emphasized that no individual, regardless of their position, has exclusive control over the compilation of polling station albums.
The NPP reiterated that the process strictly follows established compliance procedures to ensure fairness and transparency.
The statement was signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party said the National Secretariat promised to issue clear guidelines and protocols at the appropriate time to protect the integrity and credibility of all stages in the electoral process. Polling station executives and stakeholders were urged to reject and treat with contempt any misleading pronouncements on this matter.
The party also addressed claims by Mr. Antwi Boasiako suggesting that the decision to hold the presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, was designed to favor a specific aspirant.
The NPP described this claim as unfounded and stressed that the National Council made the decision after thorough deliberation in the party’s supreme strategic interest.
According to the party, the National Council’s composition ensures no individual can manipulate decisions for personal gain.
The early timetable for the congress aims to give the NPP sufficient time to reorganize, reposition, and prepare effectively to regain power in the 2028 general elections.
The party reaffirmed its strong commitment to transparency, fairness, and internal democracy, assuring that all electoral activities will uphold the highest standards of integrity.
Background:
Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, while speaking to party delegates, alleged that the party is scheming to rig the presidential election to favor Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, the plan is to ensure that all current executives are maintained and vote for Bawumia.
He said this strategy was repeated in 1998 to favor John Agyekum Kufuor.
He also claimed that expanding the delegates’ album to include polling station executives and former executives was a move to support Dr. Bawumia’s bid to become the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 election.
He urged the delegates to vote for Bawumia.
Kwame Baffoe (Abronye), the Bono Regional NPP Chairman, on the other hand, said he will remove all delegates on WhatsApp platforms who are threatening to unseat members of parliament who have declared their support for Dr. Bawumia.
According to Abronye, those delegates should not worry because they will not partake in the election. He made these assertions on his Online television ‘OhiaTV’.
