Nana Obiri Boahen, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reignited the debate on Ghana’s founding fathers, stating that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah cannot be considered the sole founder of Ghana due to “karma”.
Speaking on Atinka FM recently, the historian argued that Nkrumah’s role in Ghana’s independence should not overshadow the contributions of other key figures who fought for the country’s freedom.
“While Nkrumah played a significant role in Ghana’s independence, it is unfair to attribute the country’s founding to him alone,” Nana Obiri Boahen stated.
“The collective efforts of many individuals, including J.B. Danquah, Obetsebi Lamptey, and others, should be recognized and celebrated.”
Nana Obiri Boahen’s comments buttress President Akufo-Addo’s position that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah cannot be considered the sole founder of Ghana.
