As part of efforts to enhance access to quality healthcare, AngloGold Ashanti, through its Community Health Outreach Program, has established a mini clinic in the Sanso community under the initiative themed “Bringing Healthcare to the Doorstep.”

The initiative forms part of AngloGold Ashanti’s broader plan to improve healthcare accessibility for residents in its host communities.
The mini clinic is designed to provide essential health services to people in Sanso and surrounding areas, eliminating the need for long travel to access medical care.

“This mini clinic is one of the testaments to our commitment to improving access to quality healthcare,” said Nane Ache, Social Development and Gender Officer at AngloGold Ashanti. “We are bringing healthcare right to the doorstep of the Sanso community.”

The outreach program, according to Ache, is open not only to residents of Sanso but also to adjoining communities, offering various screening and treatment services including mental health checks, prostate cancer screening, breast cancer screening, and general health assessments.

“You don’t necessarily need to be sick before getting screened,” Ache emphasized. “Screening should be part of everyday life. We want people to be proactive when it comes to their health and safety.”
The October outreach marks the fourth in a series of mini clinic exercises undertaken this year. So far, the team has screened more than 4,800 individuals, with a target of reaching 5,500 by the end of the month.

The initiative forms part of AngloGold Ashanti’s 10-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP), which runs until 2031.
The company conducts quarterly interventions aimed at promoting public health and well-being in its operational communities.
Ache also highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and paying attention to mental health as part of overall well-being.

“We have just one life to live,” she said. “We must eat well, exercise, sleep well, and talk to people when we feel depressed. Mental health is critical, and we should all be proactive about it.”
The Sanso mini clinic, along with other community health initiatives, underscores AngloGold Ashanti’s continued commitment to improving healthcare delivery and supporting sustainable community development in its operational areas.
