The King of Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has basked in the glory of Chairman of the Governing Council of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Professor Edward Brenya.
The renowned Academician is one of the esteemed beneficiaries of Otumfuo Educational Fund who was recently appointed by President John Mahama to Chair the Governing Council of the institution.
Speaking to journalists at Manhyia Palace, on a sidelines during a courtesy by the German President to the King, the current Head of the Department of History, Political Science and Public Administration at KNUST, says his appointment is a testament to the impact of the Fund established by the King to wage a war against illiteracy and poverty in the Kingdom and Ghana.
“The Fund has awarded scholarships to over 20,000 individuals, empowering them to achieve their educational dreams and pursue successful careers.
Many beneficiaries of the Fund have gone on to occupy influential positions in various sectors, including education, law, politics, among others.
“Otumfuo’s vision has not only transformed me but also contributed significantly to Ghana’s development.”, he reflected
Professor Brenya emphasised on education as a key driver of development as evident in the remarkable achievements of the beneficiary of the Fund
Professor Brenya also named other beneficiaries of Otumfuo Educational Fund; Dr. (Mrs) Mercy Badu, Senior Lecturer Departmebt of Chemistry, KNUST, Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kingsley Antwi Boasiako, General Manager of the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority, Tema.
He, therefore, appealed to all especially past beneficiaries of the Otumfuo Education Fund to support the current Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation to promote the vision of His Royal Majesty.
Professor Breyah expressed gratitude to the king for helping him to achieve his aspirations in life and President John Dramani Mahama for giving him opportunity to serve in the NDC government.
