The Asante Youth Association General Secretary, Tweneboa Kodua, has issued a stern warning that any New Patriotic Party elder who brings Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye into the Ashanti Region will face fierce resistance.
In an interview with Kojo Marfo on AbusuaNkommo at Abusua965FM monitored by Kumasimail, Kodua challenged the NPP to respect AYA’s authority in the Ashanti Region, asserting that Asanteman will ultimately decide the next President of Ghana.
He emphasized that disregarding AYA’s position and siding with Abronye would be a direct challenge to their influence.
Kodua called on the NPP to publicly distance itself from the derogatory remarks made by Abronye against the their Patron and former Member of Parliament and Minister, Dr. Richard Anane.
“We want the party to disassociate themselves from Abronye’s remarks. If not, it signals that the party endorses insulting its own elders,” Kodua said.
He warned about the potential escalation of tensions, noting, “A foolish person in the bush that same foolish person is also at home. If the party condones such insults, others who can speak like Abronye will follow, and the situation will escalate.”
Further underscoring the seriousness of the matter, Kodua stated, “Any NPP elder who comes to the Ashanti Region with Abronye involved in party politics will be met with resistance. The people of Asante will determine who becomes the next President. Take it from me.”
When asked if it would be Ashanti or AYA that decides the outcome, Kodua clarified firmly, “Asante will determine the next President.”
