The MTN Ghana Foundation, in partnership with Cal Bank Ghana, will hold the 2026 edition of the “Save A Life” Blood Donation Drive on Friday, February 13, with a target of collecting 7,000 units of blood nationwide in a single day.
The exercise will run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. across all 16 regions of Ghana and is aimed at supporting the National Blood Service and regional hospital blood banks.
Major collection centres will be located at the MTN Ghana Head Office, the MobileMoney Ltd office at the Stanchart Building, and the Cal Bank Head Office at Ridge in Accra. An additional 44 designated donation centres will be activated across the country.
Speaking ahead of the event, Samuel Bartels, Senior Manager for Regulatory and Government Affairs at MTN Ghana, on behalf of the Acting Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, said the exercise responds to ongoing blood shortages in the country.
“Ghana still faces a significant blood shortage and every unit donated becomes a lifeline for someone’s parent, child, friend, or colleague. This campaign is not just another event. It is an act of love, a demonstration of leadership and a reaffirmation of our MTN value to lead with care,” he said.
He urged eligible donors, corporate organisations and members of the public to participate.
“Blood is an essential resource, and the need for it never stops. We are appealing to Ghanaians everywhere—if you are able, please join us at any of the designated centres. Your donation could save a mother, a child, or someone in emergency care. Together, we can make a real and lasting impact,” he added.
Details of all donation centres are available on MTN Ghana’s website and official social media platforms.
Launched in 2011 following appeals from the National Blood Service over critically low blood stocks, the “Save A Life” campaign has collected more than 35,000 units of blood to date. The donations have supported hospitals nationwide in both emergency and routine care.
The 2026 exercise is the latest edition of the annual campaign.
