President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the development of the Savannah Region, outlining plans to expand education, infrastructure and economic opportunities.
He made the remarks while addressing the Gonjaland Youth Association during its 50th anniversary celebrations in Buipe.
The President announced a series of interventions in the education sector, including the establishment of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) schools in Tinga and Busunu.

He also said the government plans to expand infrastructure in senior high schools and upgrade selected Category B schools to Category A status.
“Education is the bridge between where we are and where we aspire to be,” Mr Mahama told participants.
Beyond education, the President revealed plans to construct a modern sports stadium in the region to promote youth development.

He also announced the establishment of 24-hour markets in every district, aimed at boosting local businesses, creating jobs and strengthening economic activity.
The initiatives, he said, are part of broader efforts to improve livelihoods and expand opportunities, particularly for young people in the Savannah Region.
