Media personality Valentine Nana Agyeiwaa, popularly known as Afia Schwarzenegger, has petitioned the national leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to suspend former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, over what she describes as anti-party conduct.
In a petition dated June 18, 2026, addressed to the leadership of the NPP, Ms. Agyeiwaa called for immediate disciplinary action against Mr. Agyapong, accusing him of making comments that allegedly undermine the party and its parliamentary caucus.
The petition comes amid public discussions surrounding concerns over healthcare facilities in the Ashanti Region, including reported challenges at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Suntreso, Atonsu, and Agogo Government Hospitals.
Ms. Agyeiwaa said the concerns prompted members of the Minority in Parliament to visit the Afari Military Hospital to assess the condition of the facility, but the visit reportedly resulted in a confrontation with military personnel, attracting public attention.
According to the petition, Mr. Agyapong’s subsequent criticism of the Minority’s visit and his comments on the matter were unjustified and amounted to an attack on the party’s efforts to raise concerns over public health issues.
She questioned why the former MP would criticise the Minority caucus instead of supporting what she described as a legitimate attempt to demand accountability on issues affecting citizens.
The petitioner also raised questions about comments allegedly made by Mr. Agyapong during a media interview regarding an alleged $65 million contract proposal involving persons linked to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
Ms. Agyeiwaa questioned the circumstances surrounding the alleged offer and called for clarity on the matter, while suggesting that Mr. Agyapong’s recent public positions required scrutiny.
She further criticised the silence of the NPP Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, over what she described as anti-party behaviour.
The petitioner urged the NPP leadership to immediately begin disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Agyapong, warning that she and other concerned party members would continue to speak out if no action was taken.
The petition was copied to the NPP Flagbearer, the Minority Leader in Parliament, and the General Secretary of the party.
