The Ghana Police Service has arrested six private security guards in connection with a shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, at Kwabenya on June 21, 2026.
The arrests followed investigations into the incident, which led to the recovery of five pump-action guns, one Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine containing five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication equipment.

In a statement, the Police Service said personnel from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate, who were on special duty, responded to a distress call from a residence at Kwabenya and proceeded to the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a ceremony was taking place at the residence of Mr Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, also known as Akofena, when Ms Adwoa Safo allegedly arrived at the premises and requested entry but was denied access.

The police said armed security personnel stationed at the residence allegedly fired shots during the incident, resulting in injuries to the former MP. Her vehicle was also found with multiple gunshot marks.
The arrested suspects, along with the weapons and other exhibits retrieved from the scene, have been transferred to the Police Headquarters to assist with further investigations.
The Police Service said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other persons believed to be connected to the incident.
Authorities have assured the public that investigations will continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
