Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey says he is prepared for the Black Stars’ FIFA World Cup Group L clash against England on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Partey stressed the importance of mental strength and readiness.
“Well, by training, I think everything is mental. You have to be ready for whatever. The minute that your body can go through, you just give your best, and that’s it,” he said.
Partey missed Ghana’s opening Group L match against Panama due to immigration challenges in Canada. The Black Stars secured a 1-0 victory in the match at the 95-minute of a hard-fought contest.
Reacting to the situation that prevented him from featuring in the game, the midfielder said he has moved on and is focused on the task ahead.
“Well, I think it’s part of football. Things happen in football that you cannot control. So, for me, now I feel okay and I’m ready to play,” Partey told reporters.
Ghana will face England in a crucial Group L fixture, with both teams seeking to strengthen their position in the race for qualification to the next stage of the tournament hosted by Canada, United States, and Mexico.
