The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, popularly known as King Zuba, has alleged that the majority of brothels operating in the Asafo area of Kumasi are owned by police officers.
Speaking in an interview with Accra FM’s Nana Kwabena Bobie Ansah, the Kumasi Mayor claimed he had personally identified some of the officers allegedly linked to the operations and reported them to the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
“I have personally handed the police officers involved in the activities to the Ashanti Regional Police Command,” King Zuba said during the interview.
Hours after the Mayor’s remarks, the Ashanti Regional Police Command announced that it had commenced investigations into the allegations.

In a statement, the police confirmed that a Chief Inspector is currently under investigation for allegedly renting out a wooden structure that was reportedly being used for commercial sex activities, commonly referred to as “Ashawo.”
The Police Command indicated that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry.
