The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Dr. Kingsley Agyemang has condemned a violent incident at Kyebi Zongo that left a young man injured following a confrontation with military personnel.
In a statement issued, the MP said his office had taken note of a viral video capturing the incident, which reportedly occurred on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The footage is said to show a clash between some youth and military officers, resulting in the shooting of a civilian.
Describing the development as “deeply saddening,” the MP strongly denounced all forms of violence and brutality that threaten the safety of residents within the constituency.
“While the full facts surrounding the incident are yet to be officially established, no community should have to witness such unfortunate scenes,” the statement said.
According to the MP, the injured victim is currently receiving treatment at the Kyebi Government Hospital. He extended his well wishes to the victim, expressing hope for a full and speedy recovery on behalf of the people of Abuakwa South.
The MP also appealed to residents, particularly the youth, to remain calm and avoid any actions that could escalate tensions, urging them to allow state authorities to conduct investigations into the matter.
He further called on the relevant security agencies to undertake a thorough, impartial, and transparent inquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure accountability.
Reaffirming his commitment to peace and stability, the MP stated that he would engage stakeholders to maintain law and order in the constituency.
He urged residents to remain united and work together to safeguard the peace of Abuakwa South.
