The Regent of the Dagbon Kingdom, Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Abubakari, has begun his regency with a donation of essential medicines to the Yendi Municipal Hospital, in a move aimed at supporting healthcare delivery in the municipality.
The donation, made shortly after his formal enskinment as Regent of Dagbon, underscores his commitment to improving the welfare of the people and contributing to the development of the kingdom.
The medicines are expected to bolster the hospital’s capacity to provide essential healthcare services to patients and address some of the facility’s immediate pharmaceutical needs.
The gesture has been widely welcomed by hospital authorities and members of the public, who described it as a timely intervention that will strengthen healthcare delivery in the Yendi Municipality.

Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Abubakari was formally enskinned on Friday, July 31, 2026, following the passing of the late Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abubakari Mahama II.
As Regent of Dagbon, he is expected to oversee the affairs of the kingdom during the interregnum, supervise the remaining funeral rites of the late Yaa-Naa and work with the kingmakers and elders until a new Overlord is selected and enskinned in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Dagbon Kingdom.
