The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam constituency has accused the Jean Mensa-led Electoral Commission (EC) of conspiring with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to inflate the constituency’s voters register.
According to the NDC, over 3,017 voters have been unlawfully added to the roll, and they are demanding the immediate deletion of these names.
The party’s leadership is also questioning the discrepancies between the figures in the voters register provided by the EC to the constituency executives and those given at the national level.
Briefing the media, Galahad Alex Andoh, Communications Officer for the Ajumako NDC, expressed the party’s concerns and vowed to resist any attempts by the EC to rig the elections.
“The EC initially reported 4,286 voters, but during the voters’ transfer exercise, the daily records added up to 1,271. When we sought clarification from the district director at the EC office in Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam, he confirmed that the accurate figure is indeed 1,271, whereas 4,286 voters are recorded in the national database,” Andoh stated.
He further revealed, “We have noticed that 3,017 names have been added to the voters register.”
Constituency Chairman, Prof. Jonathan Annan, also assured that the party would take all necessary steps to ensure the electoral roll is cleared of any ineligible voters before the December 7 elections.
