Minister for Defence Gilbert Kenneth Adjei has formally handed over responsibility for the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the newly appointed sector Minister, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, MP.
The handover followed President John Dramani Mahama’s recent ministerial reshuffle, which saw Mr. Ibrahim, the former Minister for Local Government, Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs, reassigned to the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry.
In a statement posted on Facebook after the ceremony, Mr. Adjei described the handover as “brief but significant,” saying it marked a change in leadership while reaffirming the need for continuity in advancing development in the works, housing and water resources sectors.
He expressed appreciation to the management, heads of agencies and departments, as well as staff of the ministry, for their support and collaboration during his tenure.
“As I hand over the baton, I wish Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim every success and pray that he continues to build on the work already underway for the benefit of the people of Ghana,” Mr. Adjei said.
Mr. Ibrahim, a Member of Parliament, takes charge of the ministry as the government seeks to sustain ongoing programmes and initiatives in infrastructure development, housing and water resources.
Mr. Adjei also reaffirmed his commitment to public service, describing service to Ghana as “the ultimate privilege.”
The reshuffle forms part of President Mahama’s efforts to realign his administration and strengthen the delivery of government programmes across key sectors.
