The Member of Parliament for Asawase, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the constituency into a major hub for grassroots sports development following the commissioning of the Dogo Moro Mini-Stadium in Asawase.
The newly completed facility, located in the Ashanti Regional capital of Kumasi, represents another milestone in efforts by the Asawase MP to expand access to modern sports infrastructure and create opportunities for young people in the constituency.
Named after former Black Stars defender Dogo Moro, the mini-stadium honours the football legend who was part of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations-winning squads in 1963 and 1965.
The facility includes a basketball court and other sporting amenities and adds to the growing number of modern sports facilities developed in the constituency.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Muntaka, who is also Ghana’s Minister for the Interior, said the completion of the Dogo Moro Mini-Stadium formed part of a deliberate strategy to transform Asawase through investment in infrastructure, youth development and sports.
“We marked another important milestone in our collective journey to transform the constituency through deliberate investment in infrastructure, youth development and sports,” he said.
“With Dogo Moro now completed, Asawase has three completed AstroTurf facilities Dogo Moro, Akurem Highlanders and Aboabo Middle B.”
Muntaka said his vision is to position Asawase as a centre for grassroots sports development while harnessing the power of sports to empower young people and create economic opportunities.
“I remain committed to positioning Asawase as a hub for grassroots sports development while using sports as a powerful instrument for youth empowerment, social cohesion and economic opportunity,” he stated.
The commissioning of the Dogo Moro Mini-Stadium further underscores the growing role of sports infrastructure in the development agenda of the Asawase constituency.
With three completed AstroTurf facilities now serving communities across the constituency, the investment is expected to provide more young people with access to safe and modern spaces to develop their sporting talents.
Beyond talent development, the facilities are also expected to promote social cohesion and encourage greater youth participation in productive activities.
Muntaka’s continued investment in sports infrastructure has positioned grassroots sports as an important pillar of development in Asawase, with the MP pledging to sustain efforts to expand opportunities for young people through sports and other youth-focused initiatives.
