The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a 51-year-old man and his 42-year-old wife for allegedly dealing in and supplying illicit drugs in parts of Accra.
The suspects have been identified as Jibreel Hardi and his wife, Abiba Fatawu.
They were arrested on Thursday, September 3, 2026, during a joint intelligence-led operation involving NACOC’s Special Operations Unit and operatives from National Security.
Jibreel Hardi was intercepted at about 11 a.m. at Weija in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region while he was allegedly on his way to meet a prospective buyer.
According to information gathered, the operation followed sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance by NACOC’s undercover operatives over an extended period.
A search of Hardi’s vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of large quantities of dried leaves wrapped in polythene, suspected to be cannabis, as well as several packets of Tramadol.
Following his arrest, the enforcement team proceeded to his residence, where they allegedly recovered additional quantities of the suspected cannabis and Tramadol.
A firearm and 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition were also reportedly retrieved from the residence.
Hardi’s wife, Abiba Fatawu, was subsequently arrested at the residence for her alleged involvement as an accomplice and collaborator in the activities under investigation.
The two suspects are currently in NACOC custody and are being processed for court, while the exhibits retrieved are undergoing forensic examination.
NACOC is expected to present the suspects before the court after the completion of the necessary investigations and processing.
