Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has joined the “My First Day at School” programme in the Asokore Mampong Municipality, where he welcomed pupils and presented them with stationery and other learning materials.
The initiative took place on Tuesday during a visit to the Asokore Mampong R/C Basic School and Aboabo Middle “B” Basic School.
Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong, Hon. Ben Abdallah Alhassan, and the Municipal Director of Education.
According to the MP, the presentation of the learning materials was intended to encourage pupils as they began a new academic journey.
He stressed the need for investment in education to extend beyond the provision of physical infrastructure, arguing that attention must also be given to creating conducive learning environments and ensuring that pupils have access to the materials they need.
“Our investment in education must go beyond providing infrastructure. It must include creating the right environment, providing the necessary learning materials, and ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to succeed,” he said in a Facebook post.
Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education and creating better opportunities for children in the Asawase area.
He also commended the Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal Education Directorate and their respective teams for what he described as their continued dedication to the education and welfare of children in the municipality.
The “My First Day at School” programme is aimed at supporting children entering school for the first time and helping them begin their formal education with the basic materials needed for learning.
