Outgoing Nandom NDC executive member Emmanuel Soglizu has urged delegates to reject personal loyalties and familiarity in selecting new constituency leaders, warning that their choices will shape the party’s unity and effectiveness after the October 24 elections.
Mr Soglizu, in a press statement dated October 21, said delegates must assess candidates based on their integrity, experience, commitment, accessibility and ability to strengthen the party rather than personal relationships.
“Our choice of leaders should be guided by the interests of the party and the constituency rather than personal relationships, familiarity or other considerations that may not necessarily reflect a candidate’s ability to serve effectively,” he said.
His appeal comes as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) prepares to elect new constituency executives across all 276 constituencies nationwide on October 24, with Mr Soglizu calling on aspirants to maintain a peaceful campaign and avoid insults, misinformation and personal attacks.
He reminded party members that the leadership contests should not undermine the unity needed to sustain the NDC’s political fortunes in their respective constituencies.
“We must always remember that party elections are temporary, but the NDC is bigger than any individual contest or interest. After the elections, all of us will have to work together as one party towards our collective objectives,” he said.
Mr Soglizu, who is among the outgoing executives, also urged delegates participating in the Nandom constituency conference to approach the exercise with seriousness and a clear understanding of the responsibility entrusted to them.
He said the quality of leadership emerging from the election would depend largely on the considerations guiding delegates’ decisions.
“The responsibility placed on us delegates is therefore significant. The quality of leadership that emerges from any election will depend in large measure on the considerations that guide those who make the choice,” he added.
Call for post-election unity
Beyond the voting process, Mr Soglizu called on all aspirants and their supporters to accept the outcome and work with whoever emerges victorious.

He said the collective interest of the party and the Nandom Constituency must take precedence over individual ambitions, urging members to demonstrate maturity, discipline, tolerance and respect throughout the electoral process.
His appeal follows what he described as a generally peaceful campaign, which he urged contestants to sustain until the conference concludes.
Mr Soglizu also commended outgoing constituency executives for their service and congratulated both first-time aspirants and incumbents seeking re-election, acknowledging the commitment and sacrifice involved in contesting for party office.
He further thanked party supporters for their contribution to the NDC’s victory in the 2024 general elections and urged them to remain committed as President John Dramani Mahama’s administration works to fulfil its promises.
“We have a party to build, a constituency to serve and a future to secure,” he said, urging members to place the party’s collective objectives above personal interests.
The NDC is scheduled to hold its constituency executive elections nationwide on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
