The Upper West Regional capital, Wa, is set to host a 21,000-tonne grain storage facility under a €4.8 million export credit and an additional investment of about €5 million.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DMT Collateral Management Limited for the project, which is expected to strengthen grain storage capacity, reduce post-harvest losses and improve Ghana’s food security.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the Ministry in Accra under the government’s Feed Ghana Programme.
The facility will operate as a Food Security Hub, incorporating an emergency grain reserve known as the Hospital Bin, designed to ensure the availability of food stocks during periods of national need.

Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, commended DMT and the Danish Embassy for facilitating the project and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to its successful implementation.
DMT Chief Executive Officer, Paul Sannie Minlah, said the project would also create opportunities for National Service personnel, Feed Ghana Brigades and Ghanaian technicians to acquire practical skills in silo operations, grain handling and maintenance.
The facility is expected to be completed and commissioned by August 2027.
