Former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu is calling on the Electoral Commission (EC) to release the serial numbers of every ballot paper printed for the upcoming December 7 general elections to promote free, fair, and transparent voting without irregularities.
Speaking at a mini rally in Lamashegu, during a visit by NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama to the Tamale South constituency on his Northern Regional tour, the legislator stressed that this demand would allow the NDC to monitor ballot distribution and identify any potential irregularities in the polls.
“We are demanding that you provide the serial numbers of every ballot paper printed for each region, district, and constituency in the name of transparency”.
The former Minority Leader advised the Electoral Commission to disclose all serial numbers from the Northern Region.
He pledged to track and expose any attempts by the Commission to transfer Northern Region ballot papers to other regions.
“Our printed ballot papers are insufficient, and we need to know the quantity and serial numbers. Specifically, for the Northern Region, we want to know the starting and ending serial numbers so we can track them in Ashanti and Eastern Regions.
“This will enable us to identify any ballot paper meant for the Northern Region found in another region, exposing potential fraud and irregularities in the elections”.
He expressed confidence that John Mahama and the NDC will form the next government and urged the commission to ensure credible election processes.
“We are convinced beyond a shadow of doubt that John Dramani Mahama will win in a free and credible election”.
