We pray Ghana never sees Another Akufo-Addo like President – Akyem Asuom Kontihene

Nana Boadi Amponim Obodade III, the Kontinhene of Asuom, has expressed hope that Ghana will never again experience a leadership style similar to that of President Nana Akufo-Addo, citing dissatisfaction with the governance and economic decisions made during his tenure.

Speaking during an interview with the media, the traditional leader criticized the outgoing administration for what he described as a failure to prioritize the country’s welfare.

He lamented that Ghana has been “stripped naked,” comparing the state of the nation to a bleeding mother in need of urgent rescue.

“The robbers have struck they have stolen all the goodies,” the Kontihene said.
He praised President-elect John Dramani Mahama as a “Good Samaritan” poised to rescue the nation and restore it to health and prosperity.

Referencing biblical scripture, the Kontihene underscored his belief that divine intervention had played a role in Mahama’s electoral victory.

“The good Lord has given us another chance through President Mahama to rebuild this country,” he stated.

The Chief also reflected on the missed opportunities of the Akufo-Addo administration, pointing out that the government had access to substantial revenue but failed to create a lasting legacy.

He noted that many traditional leaders and citizens share his disappointment, highlighting their expectations for a transformative presidency that would address the nation’s challenges.

“A good friend of mine, who is also a chief, once said that a leader’s greatness can be seen in how chiefs and citizens alike rise to greet him. Sadly, this was not the legacy of the outgoing administration,” the Kontihene observed.

As he expressed optimism for the future, the Kontihene called on all Ghanaians to support the incoming government in its efforts to rebuild the economy and restore hope. He emphasized the need for unity and a collective focus on the nation’s recovery.

“We are hopeful that President Mahama will heal the wounds of Ghana and recover what has been lost. He has a daunting task ahead, but with the prayers and support of Ghanaians, he can succeed,” the Kontihene concluded.

The Kontihene’s remarks reflect a broader sentiment among some traditional leaders and citizens eager for a leadership shift and a renewed focus on national development.
