Former NPP flagbearer aspirant Dr. Arthur Kennedy has disclosed that ex-President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo will not endorse former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign ahead of the party’s upcoming congress.
The revelation came during an interview with Evans Mensah on JoyNews The Probe monitored by Kumasimail, where Kennedy asserted that Akufo-Addo had privately communicated his intent to back an alternative candidate.
“Those of us who are insiders know Nana Akufo-Addo has made it known to party insiders that he intends to support a different candidate. If he didn’t do that, Dr. Bawumia wouldn’t be saying the things he’s saying,” Kennedy stated.
He linked Bawumia’s recent criticisms of Akufo-Addo’s administration to this decision, suggesting it had strained their relationship.
When pressed to name the alternative candidate, Kennedy declined, stating, “I will let Nana Addo disclose that.”
However, he emphasized that Bawumia had been formally notified of Akufo-Addo to snub Bawumia in upcoming NPP congress- Arthur Kennedy reveals’s stance, which he described as a catalyst for heightened tensions between the two.
“I can tell you confidently that this decision has been communicated to Dr. Bawumia, and that is the reason why his criticism of Nana Addo has risen sharply. It is, in effect, unfortunate, because I think whatever you think of Nana Addo, Dr. Bawumia owes him quite a bit and deserves better treatment from Dr. Bawumia”, he stressed.
