Former Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has delivered an emotional farewell message to Ghana, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to lead the national team while calling for greater investment in the structures that support football development.
In a statement shared after his departure, Queiroz reflected on his time with the Black Stars, describing football as a game of both victories and valuable lessons.
“Football, like life, teaches us one timeless lesson: you either win or you learn,” he wrote, adding that he leaves with pride in the team’s achievements while acknowledging the desire for even greater success.
The Portuguese coach stressed that Ghana’s football future depends not only on performances on the field but also on creating a strong environment to nurture talent.
“The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch,” Queiroz said. “Success must start off the field by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent.”
Queiroz expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Ghana Football Association, thanking its president and board for entrusting him with the responsibility of managing the senior national team.
He also paid tribute to his players and technical staff, commending their courage, commitment and unwavering dedication throughout his tenure.
Addressing Ghanaian supporters, the former coach acknowledged that the team had not achieved complete sporting satisfaction but said they had restored the Black Stars’ respect and credibility on the international stage.
“We can proudly say that we honoured the colours of Ghana and restored respect and credibility to the Black Stars on football’s greatest stage,” he stated.
Queiroz concluded his message by thanking the nation for its support and expressing optimism about the future.
