Former Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Gemfi, has bid farewell to the Ministry of Defence following his departure from the ministry to take up a new role.
Mr. Brogya Gemfi made the disclosure in a post on his Facebook page after a farewell ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
Reflecting on his tenure, the former Deputy Defence Minister said the occasion provided an opportunity to look back on what he described as “monumental achievements” recorded for the Ministry of Defence and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
He expressed appreciation to the Minister for Defence, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, whom he referred to as his “big brother,” for his support during his time at the ministry.
Mr. Brogya Gemfi also acknowledged the Chief of the Defence Staff, the Chief Director and management of the ministry, the Service Chiefs, and the Chief of Staff at General Headquarters for what he described as their “steadfast support and professionalism.”
He said he was deeply touched by a token presented to him during the farewell ceremony, describing the gift as a symbol of appreciation for the work accomplished collectively during his tenure.
“As I move into my new responsibilities, I carry with me the lessons, discipline, and camaraderie of the MoD and the GAF,” he said.
The former Deputy Defence Minister said his experience at the Ministry of Defence and within the Ghana Armed Forces had left him with valuable lessons and relationships that would remain with him as he assumes his new responsibilities.
The farewell ceremony brought together senior officials and leadership of the Ministry of Defence and the Ghana Armed Forces to mark Mr. Brogya Gemfi’s departure from the ministry.
