NPP parliamentary aspirant for Nandom, Hon. Alois K.K. Mohl, has outlined a package of welfare, organisational and development interventions he says he will introduce for party members and the wider constituency if given the nod to contest the parliamentary seat.

At the centre of his proposal is a welfare scheme for NPP delegates, which he says will later be extended to their immediate family members if the party wins the 2028 elections.

Mr Mohl, who declared his intention to contest the NPP parliamentary primary in Nandom on Thursday, September 3, 2026, said the scheme would provide financial assistance to party executives facing health and educational difficulties.

Under the proposed arrangement, he said an executive hospitalised for more than three days would receive cash support, while party executives in tertiary institutions who face fee difficulties beyond their first year would also receive assistance.

He said the proposals were not entirely new, pointing to what he described as years of personal support to party members and residents of Nandom.

“I have already been doing this over the years, and some of you here seated, can testify,” he said, adding that he had also supported bedridden persons with cash and paid school fees for party members and other residents.

Mr Mohl also plans to establish what he calls a Rapid Response Team (Reconciliation/Retracing Committee) to identify and address disagreements within the party at the grassroots.

According to him, the team would visit polling stations to identify disputes and reconcile members, while also working with polling station executives to trace NPP members who have been forgotten or sidelined.

He said annual forums would subsequently be organised to recognise such members and acknowledge their contribution to the party.

Beyond the party structure, Mr Mohl said his social welfare programme for the Nandom constituency would target vulnerable residents, with women receiving particular attention through seed capital to establish or expand small businesses.

He said he had been involved in welfare activities for party members and residents of Nandom for more than two decades, including providing start-up capital to men and women.

He also proposed creating a database of vulnerable people, particularly poor widows and widowers, to facilitate targeted assistance during difficult periods.

Residents with access to land, he said, could receive support in the form of tractor services and seeds to enable them to produce food for themselves.

Mr Mohl, whose professional background includes more than three decades of work in public administration and social development, said his experience in training and development would also be brought to bear on the Nandom NPP organisation.

He holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from Central University, an MSc in Defence and International Politics from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, an LLB from Mountcrest University College and a BA in Political Science with Sociology from the University of Ghana. He also holds a Certificate in Social Work from the School of Social Work, Osu.

His professional profile lists previous responsibilities in social development, child protection, monitoring and evaluation, NGO regulation and early childhood development, including work as National Coordinator of Ghana’s Care Reforms Initiative and Head of the International Social Services and Not-for-Profit Organisations desks.

Mr Mohl said he would use that training and experience to organise capacity-building programmes for NPP constituency executives, particularly the party’s communications team.

The training, he said, would cover canvassing, political communication, community engagement, engagement with opposition parties and information gathering, with the objective of making the party’s communication “SMART” — specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely.

He said he had previously organised similar training for polling station executives in the former Lawra-Nandom constituency, recalling a 2006 programme he facilitated at the Kokoligu residence of then parliamentary candidate Ambrose Dery.

Mr Mohl is also banking on his national and international networks to support his political ambitions.

He claimed his connections had already helped some constituents secure employment in institutions including the Local Government Service, Ghana Revenue Authority, Audit Service, Ghana Water Ltd and the security services.

He further cited his annual Christmas distribution of rice and oil to polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency executives, party elders, patrons, widows and other needy residents as evidence of his commitment to the party’s grassroots.

According to him, the initiative, which began in 2019, continued in 2022, 2023 and 2025 despite the loss of his position as Deputy CEO of the Social Investment Fund, with plans for another distribution in 2026.

For the wider Nandom constituency, Mr Mohl has identified education, health, agriculture and social welfare as the four main areas of his proposed development agenda.

In education, he has promised efforts towards modern infrastructure, education watchdog committees at electoral-area level, rewards for outstanding students and schools, teacher training and the development of human-capital data for community development.

In health, he said existing facilities would be improved and expanded, while health workers would receive periodic in-service training.

Agriculture, he said, would focus on improved farm outcomes and the creation of mechanisation centres, drawing on his own experience as a commercial farmer.

For vulnerable residents, he proposed targeted food assistance during lean seasons, as well as tractor services and seeds for people with land.

His political profile also portrays him as a long-serving NPP organiser who has held positions from the constituency level to the national party structure, including work on national campaign, disciplinary, monitoring and evaluation and elections committees.

Mr Mohl is now asking NPP delegates to make him the party’s parliamentary candidate, arguing that his experience, networks and proposed welfare and development programmes provide a platform for rebuilding the party and ultimately reclaiming the Nandom seat.
